Highly Graded and Rare 1924 Peace Dollar to be Auctioned
2017-12-06 Wed
Stack’s Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction is going to offer an MS-67 (NGC) Superb Gem 1924 Peace dollar which is the finest of its type. The well-struck coin features powder blue patina on its surfaces with matte-like luster across the devices and fields.Almost 12 million examples of 1924 Peace dollar were struck and they are available in most Mint State grades. Since many were not needed for circulation, they were stored in bags until the 1940s and ’50s, when they were distributed by the Treasury. Most coins are graded MS-66 and lower since they have Bagmarks and blemishes caused by careless storage and transportation. Just three coins are graded finer than the offered MS-67 example.
Other rarities offered at the same auction include a 1921-S Lincoln cent graded MS-65 RD by PCGS.
